Our church is based largely off the first century churches in Acts, since these are the first churches after Jesus’ death and resurrection. Acts 2:42-47 best describes our church values: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
We believe in the biblical steps of salvation, shown below:
Hear: Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” To be introduced to the good news, we first have to hear the message.
Believe: Once the message is heard, the next step is to believe in the good news: Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Repent: Luke 13:3 “I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” Jesus calls all his disciples that believe in Him and His word to repent, or turn away, from their sins and old ways of life.
Confess: Romans 10:9 and 1 Timothy 6:12 tell us we need to confess Jesus is Lord in the presence of many witnesses to begin our new life with Jesus. “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”--“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
Baptism: Finally, we believe that to be saved from our sins and receive the gift of the holy spirit, we need to be baptized by immersion in water: Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:21 “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”—“and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ”
All members are expected to live their lives under the Lordship of Jesus, which includes a lifestyle of evangelism, meeting regularly with the fellowship, financial giving, and maintaining one-another relationships that encourage and call one higher.
We have a great study series for people who desire to seek a relationship with God that builds deep and powerful convictions founded on Scripture. If you are interested in studying the scriptures, join us for worship, or click on the “contact us” link for more information.
What do you teach about baptism?
We believe that baptism is necessary for salvation along with hearing the message, faith in God, repentance and confessing that "Jesus is Lord." 1 Peter 3:21
